Aspen Rotarian Covers Olympics
Our club's very own Cindy Hirschfield is the editor of Cross Country Skier Magazine and overcame planes, trains, automobiles, busses, COVID tests, rogue QR codes and more to venture to China and report on the Beijing Olympics.   She's spending most of her time in Zhangijakou  where the nordic events take place.  Check out Cindy's Feb 14 "Sufferfest" article about the Mens and Womens Biathalon events here.

And if Cindy wasn't busy enough in China, as Chair of our club's Speaker Committee, she introduced local Aspen olympians Simi Hamilton  and Sophie Caldwell Hamilton to speak about their days competing in multiple Olympics and World Cup nordic events.  Together they now coach for the AVSC National Comp Nordic Team and play integral roles in inspiring the next generation of junior nordic athletes in the Roaring Fork Valley.  Thanks Cindy, and thanks to Simi and Sophie for speaking to our club today!

(Inside tip:  for any non-rotarian readers, we enjoy great speakers like Simi and Sophie at our weekly Rotary Club of Aspen breakfast meetings.)
About Our Club

  • Who We Are:  The Rotary Club of Aspen is the Aspen chapter of Rotary International. Our active club provides members with a unique combination of meaningful service opportunities, fellowship with community and business leaders, and interesting and informative weekly speakers. The club is made up of nearly 100 members across a wide age range. Club members are actively involved in serving Aspen, the Roaring Fork Valley, and even the global community. We have many committees, each providing fun ways to get involved, contribute, learn, and enjoy fellowship with other members.
  • What We Do:   Build relationships, engage with the community, share ideas, and impact lives.
  • Where and When:  Effective February 24th, we will resume in-person  meetings!  We meet at at the Mountain Chalet Aspen every Thursday morning from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to chat over coffee, enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast, and learn from speakers on a myriad of topics.  We also hold special events throughout the year--check out our Club Calendar for more info!

  • Curious?  Come visit and see for yourself! Just click here to request more information or arrange a visit. Membership in the club is made through a formal nomination process led by an existing club member.
